Working Paper: "Going Places"

TIC members Chris Leonards and Nico Randeraad (Maastricht University) are pleased to present their working paper on French, Swiss, British and American visitors to international social reform congresses, between 1876 and 1913. This paper, to be published in French as a chapter in Philanthropes en 1900 (Londres, New York, Paris, Genève), edited by Stéphane Baciocchi, Thomas David and Christian Topalov (Creaphiseditions), makes extensive use of data collected and analysed in the framework of TIC Collaborative’s Nodegoat database. The paper discusses the densely networked, transnational field of French, Swiss, British and American philanthropists, experts, administrators and politicians. By zooming in on their participation in international congresses, it seeks to connect people, spheres, organisations and causes across borders.
